Genotypic diversity, plant selectivity and community composition of sooty mould symptom forming fungi in a Mata Atlântica relict rainforest

DFG RA 731/15-1

From 12/2013 to 12/2018

Principal Investigator: Gerhard Rambold
Staff: Fabienne Flessa

Fabienne Flessa and Gerhard Rambold studied epiphytic fungi in the Mata Atlântica and found high species richness, including many undescribed taxa. Region-specific communities were compared to Central Europe. Capnocheirides rhododendri dominated alpine Rhododendron ferrugineum, and leaf lifespan limited fungal diversity in temperate forests.
