IT expert group (GBIF Germany)

BMBF GBIF-D Biodiversity Informatics

From 01/2004 to 12/2007

Principal Investigator: Gerhard Rambold
Staff: Alexandra Kehl

The IT working group was an integral part of the coordination structure of GBIF-Germany. Its task was to bring together all available technical information on existing software and database developments and to coordinate the exchange of knowledge among software developers working in biodiversity informatics. Gerhard Rambold contributed to this effort through his involvement in various initiatives related to biodiversity data management and informatics. His work supported the development of tools and systems that helped integrate and share biodiversity data, aligning with the goals of the IT working group. Additionally, A. Kehl was actively involved in several workshops focusing on biodiversity informatics. Together with Rambold and other experts, Kehl worked to improve collaboration and the exchange of ideas within the community. These workshops played a valuable role in enhancing understanding and coordination in the field, particularly regarding the technical infrastructure needed to support data sharing and accessibility. Their combined contributions supported the overarching goals of GBIF-Germany by strengthening the technical systems that underpinned global biodiversity research and data sharing, while fostering collaboration within the community.
